Controlling a linear actuator doesn't require complex electronics or computers. The simplest, most reliable method is using a **Reverse Polarity Rocker Switch**.
Whether you are building a hatch lift, a solar tracker, or a caravan roof lift, this simple switch gives you full control with just a few wires.
Safety First: "Momentary" Action
All the rocker switches we supply at Linear Actuators South Africa feature Momentary (Spring-Return) Action. This is a critical safety feature.
How it works:
- Press & Hold: The actuator moves.
- Release: The actuator stops instantly.
Unlike a light switch that stays "On," a momentary switch automatically springs back to the "OFF" (Center) position when you let go. This prevents you from accidentally crushing something or driving the motor when you aren't watching.
The Secret: Reverse Polarity
DC Motors are simple:
- Connect Positive (+) and Negative (-) → Motor spins Clockwise (Extends).
- Swap them to Negative (-) and Positive (+) → Motor spins Counter-Clockwise (Retracts).
Our switches do this swapping for you inside the housing! You simply cross-wire the back terminals as shown in the video above.
